Quality Group International is a rapidly growing business conglomerate with a strong presence in retail, imports and distribution, F&B supply, healthcare, engineering, transportation, publication and trading across GCC and South East Asia. The Group is headquartered in Qatar and is one of the prominent business enterprises in the country. Under Mr. Shamsuddin Olakara’s visionary business plan, the Quality Group International has become an empire in Qatar in a short span of time. In the year 2001, the first company of the Group was formed, namely Quality Foods and Service specialising in ship chandelling and trading FMCG products and commodities. The Group further strengthened its presence in the field of food supply and distribution in Qatar and then moved into the retail sector owning a series of hypermarkets, supermarkets and shopping malls under the brand name “Quality”, becoming a household name in the country. Quality Group International aims to expand regionally and globally and become a universal name in the retail sector.

In addition to retail, the Group has ventured into various industries and have a strong portfolio of companies operating in over 14 countries. Quality Group International’s business practices are consistent and standardised with a scrutinized management style. The companies adhere to the international quality standards of ISO and HACCP.

 

Vision 2020

Quality Group International has emerged as one of the largest multi-faceted business enterprises from the State of Qatar. As part of its revised business agenda aptly named “Vision 2020”, the Group has a concrete game plan for the future. By the year 2020, the Group aims to extend its business presence across the world. With syncronised yet separate strategies for each industry sector, the Group aims to uniformly expand all its existing sectors. The vision is in light of Qatar’s growing economic demands and global market forecasts.

F&B Trade: The F&B Trade division of the Group is an established cluster of companies, owning a significant share of Qatar’s perishable and non-perishable consumables’ market.

  • The division has a collective storage space of 12,000 square meters of dry storage, 3000 square meters of frozen storage and 1500 square meters of chiller storage in their warehouses and aims to increase it by 15,000, 5000 and 2500 respectively by the end of the year 2017.
  • At present the procurement hub is based out of Dubai, UAE but is expected to branch out with offices in China, Vietnam, Brazil and India.
  • An increased fleet of thermo-insulated vehicles will be introduced into the market to further strengthen the supply chain network.

Healthcare: The Group has recently expanded its reach into the healthcare sector. At present, two multi-specialty clinics are functioning under the Group portfolio. Vision 2020 aims to further invest in these clinics and bring in two more medical centers in Qatar and Bahrain.

  • Lifeline Medical Centre, situated in the city of Al Khor centers on catering to the medical needs of the labourers and low-income workers at affordable costs. The clinic is currently operational with six specialised departments and under the new agenda, four more departments are going to be introduced in a newly constructed wing of the clinic. The clinic will also expand its laboratory facilities to include cutting-edge testing equipment and will aid as a medical check-up center for the employees of companies located in remote and industrial areas.
  • As per the new agenda, the Group will further expand the operations of Pearl Medical Centre, located in Muaither, Doha. Initially set up as a family oriented clinic with its main departments in Gynecology and Pediatrics, the facility is scheduled to now include Dermatology and a laboratory. There will also be an increase in the medical staff and a new hospital management software is also to be set up in the coming year.
  • The Group’s healthcare division is going to expand into the city of Manama in Bahrain with a multi-specialty clinic, featuring a range of departments and medical services by the end of year 2017.
  • A new clinic is also going to be set up in the industrial area of Doha, Qatar that will follow the same structure and management style as the medical centre in Al Khor. At present, the clinic is under construction and by the end of the year it will begin functioning.

Retail: Under the umbrella of Quality Group International, Quality Retail Group functions as an independent division that has an extensive reach with its shopping destinations, including malls, hypermarkets and supermarkets. In its current portfolio, there are over 12 separate outlets, 8 of which are in Qatar. As per Vision 2020, the retail division is going to expand pervasively with over 50 new outlets spread across different metropolitan and cosmopolitan cities of the Middle East and South East Asian region with a mixed portfolio of shopping malls, hypermarkets, department stores, convenience stores and express outlets.

  • Ongoing projects for Quality Retail Group include Quality Mall – Al Wakrah, Qatar, Quality Hypermarket – Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, Quality Hypermarket – Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Quality Hypermarket – Malacca, Malaysia that are scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2017.
  • Quality Retail Group is also stepping into the retail space in the state of Kerala in India, with two mega shopping projects namely, Quality Mall – Tirur and Quality Hypermarket – Malappuram. The shopping destinations will create a unique shopping experience for the locals and contribute to the tourism factor of the state. The projects are scheduled to open its doors officially in the first half of the year 2017.
